WKFoF was thrilled to receive a donation from recent RSS grad Samanta Fleming for $274.00. In addition to being an active member of the RSS Interact club, Sam collected donations by staging a social justice art exhibit at the Rossland Gallery.

Samantha’s two week event showcased the talents of RSS students who are interested in social issues around the world. As a creative and fun approach to fundraising, she also took pledges from people for cutting her long hair in support of the WKFoR cause. Sam is now out traveling the world to expand her knowledge of international issues, people and cultures.

“Many thanks to Sam for embodying the fundraising spirit embraced by WKFoR- we encourage individuals to come to us with their own unique ideas for fundraising,” said Kathy Moore, WKFOR chair. “Including Sam’s contribution, we have now raised $29,700 for our two sponsored Burmese families. We are still awaiting word from the Canadian government as to when we can expect the Mi and Noon families to arrive in Rossland.”

Our next fundraising event will be an elegant house concert on Oct 10, 2013. Save the date, this will be a special musical evening and tickets will be limited.

Donations Welcome.
